Illustration for the Albany Brass Ring Carousel

A couple of years ago I was a carver at the carousel and now I am selling my carousel related artwork at their gift store.  I just completed this illustration which I call "Menagerie".  It will be available as cards and posters.

Corvallis Hotel (Acrylic Painting)

This painting is based on a drawing I made a few months ago at a Vistas & Vineyards event.  It shows what the hotel looked like in the 30's and 40's.

Sibling Revelry in Corvallis

I just completed this illustration for the Sibling Revelry clothing store in Corvallis.  They will be stocking many of my cards, prints and paintings, which fit in nicely with the  whimsical atmosphere of the store.

Zeus at the Albany Brass Ring Carousel

This is an acrylic painting of Zeus, one of the carved animals at the Albany Brass Ring Carousel.  I did wood carving at the studio a few years ago.

Curious Sheep - Acrylic Painting

This is my first painting using acrylic paint.  This is very different from oil painting since it dries in minutes allowing painting layer on top of layer in a single session. Edith helped me with this painting by demonstrating this looser style. 

Tilikum Retreat Drawing - "My Ass"

This drawing (ink on canvas) is from our recent Vistas&Vineyards retreat. This miniature donkey was not pleased that I converted his silo into a nuclear reactor.

The Whiteside Theatre in Pen/Ink/Watercolor

This is an experiment. It is an ink sketch on a 14X18 gessoed canvas, to which I added watercolor washes and finally more line work in ink. Since it is on canvas I can now add more watercolor, or acrylic, or oil, or just leave it as is. The subject is the Whiteside Theatre in Corvallis.

Drawings from the Airlie Vineyards

Today Vistas & Vineyards visited the Airlie Vineyard for a paintout. I have been doing far too many paintings lately so I decided to try a couple of ink and wash pieces. Each began as a blind contour drawing followed by additional ink work and a light watercolor wash. This is a much faster process and I completed three drawings in the morning. These are my two favorites. Needless to say I really like old farm equipment. Most everyone else was painting vistas and vineyards as we are supposed to do.
