This is an Oil Painting made from the sketch that I previously posted. It is on a 12X16 canvas board. We plan to return to Mission Mill at a later date in order to make more drawings.
I just completed my latest watercolor of this little tractor that I discovered at a previous Vistas & Vineyards paint out. Hopefully I included all the necessary engine parts so that it will start.Yes, it has been out in the sun too long, and so have I.
I originally painted this image in watercolor however I never liked it so this is the oil version. I used both palette knife and brushes for this 12X16 painting. I previously also painted a less "wonky" version in oil.
At the recent SketchCrawl I started a caricature of the mill. I finally finished the sketch in ball point pen and marker. I may later turn this into a painting. I believe that perspective in highly overrated.
I have been working on this watercolor for the past few days. I got the idea from a DVD by Sue Archer called "Commanding Color". My wife bought the pineapple and I photographed it on the kitchen windowsill in the morning light. Maybe an artichoke will be next.
Yesterday at the SketchCrawl I met up with Max and Lola at Max's Bookbinding shop at the Mission Mill Museum in Salem, OR. We had a great day sketching and sharing stories. This is one of the Mill buildings as seen through his shop window.
I have now been a member of the Art In The Valley Cooperative Gallery since January. Often there are quiet periods during which I sketch at the desk. This is a view of the gallery interior from the desk.
