Philomath College, Oregon

This was my first decent attempt at a Charles Reid style watercolor.  Of course I took the liberty of adding the architectural caricature in order to add interest.  This was also my first use of the Guerilla Painter Watercolorboard that I recently bought.  This device stretches the wet paper and adds the raised deckle edges.  I now have to figure out how to frame it so that the print does not touch the glazing.
I had previously been allowed to go into the attic of this 1860s building that is now the home of the Benton County Historical Society. The second image is a photoshop manipulated image inside the attic.

Great painting - makes me think of Soutine whose work I adore (except the carcasses).

Good emulation of Reid, but still your very own work. Keep up with the buildings - they are great.

It's too bright for Halloween but this would make a good haunted scene with appropriate coloring. I like these catywampus buildings. They are fun to look at.

I love this. Your paintings are so expressive. I'm inspired to try a building caricature now.

Architectural charicature is a term I've not heard before, but I think it's fantastic! Your buildings are so fun and lighthearted. I'll never look at another structure the same way again.

WOW, the charactuire is great. Bright colors and a very interesting style. The attic is fantastic. Light and shadow working perfectly with lots of shapes to keep the eye looking for more. Thank you for sharing.

Your watercolors do have a "Reid-like" quality to them but you've added a very distinct personal style. Very nice!

Both absolutely lovely! I happen to love Photoshop because it's always here and I don't have to lug my stuff out to draw! But your watercolor college is so AWESOME. You should bke doing work for children's books in this style. Do you sell rints?
