Finally a fully dressed model at Open Studio, suitable for posting.  Most of my recent drawings are nudes.  This one is an ink & wash done with a Rapidograph .35 point.

Tilikum Retreat Drawing - "My Ass"

This drawing (ink on canvas) is from our recent Vistas&Vineyards retreat. This miniature donkey was not pleased that I converted his silo into a nuclear reactor.

The Whiteside Theatre in Pen/Ink/Watercolor

This is an experiment. It is an ink sketch on a 14X18 gessoed canvas, to which I added watercolor washes and finally more line work in ink. Since it is on canvas I can now add more watercolor, or acrylic, or oil, or just leave it as is. The subject is the Whiteside Theatre in Corvallis.

Corvallis Bus Station, Drawing

This is an update of a drawing I made a couple of years ago. This is a view from inside the Grayhound bus station which is across the street from the Benton County Courthouse.

Holstein House, Ink Drawing

On Wednesday we spent the morning painting and drawing the Holstein House and Gardens. I started this drawing on site and then worked on it at home. I am not yet sure how to treat the bushes in front, or leave them alone.

Larwood Covered Bridge (Drawing)

Yesterday we went to Larwood Bridge for a paint-out. I ended up making a somewhat wonky drawing of the bridge in ink. It is 7X10 on Arches CP Paper. We had about 25 people attending and it was a great day. The Bridge is about 15 miles east of Albany, OR.

20th Annual daVinci Days

Every year in July, Corvallis sponsors daVinci Days.  This event includes art, music, contests, exhibits and many hands on activities plus a race with human-powered, all-terrain, road-worthy , mud and water slogging, kinetic vehicles.
At the Art Center's Art Guild booth we had a live model for artists to paint or draw as well as an activity called the "daVinci Draw" where young and old had the opportunity to test their drawing ability.  We used the exercise  from Betty Edward's book in which they replicated a line drawing of the Mona Lisa upside down.  Some of the resulting drawings were quite good.
On the first day I decided to do a drawing of our model who was wearing a period outfit.  She modeled for the entire two day event.  On the second day she changed outfits and I did the oil portrait.
